Brownswood Bubblers Vol. 5 (Compiled by Gilles Peterson)
Released March 08, 2010 - Brownswood Recordings
Track 5 : Nxt Msg- Analogue Monsta Deletion Mix (Suzi Analogue + TOKiMONSTA)
“Brownswood Bubblers provides a platform for unsung heroes and emerging talent from the Worldwide underground. The series distils the stream of exciting new artists that have become semi-permanent fixtures in Gilles’ playlists and DJ sets of late to create a suite of perfect bumps.”
Barely has the dust settled on GP’s last triumphant selection then and here we are with a brand new chapter in the Bubblers saga. Volume Five is bursting at the seams with the finest flip-flop, sweet soul, gorgeous downtempo ditties and assorted exclusive Worldwide jams. Electric Wire Hustle kick off proceedings with the anthemic ‘They Don’t Want’; Ragen Fykes (with devonwho on the boards) leads the charge from the beat generation, ably supported by Sa-Ra’s Shafiq Husayn, Daru & Rena, Tokimonsta and Suzi Analogue collaborating as Analogue Monsta. Delivering an earful of brand new, unsigned music, Ron Basejam contributes a wonderfully loping jazz marvel, Nailah steps up to the plate and shows off her amazing vocals and Trilogy introduce themselves via a slice of spine-tingling, gorgeous electronic soul. All this and we’re only just scratching the surface!

Released November 2009 R2 Records
For the last five years Swingkid has been working on his vision of completing an album with the most talented people around him in Stockholm, and the result is his incredible debut “THIS ELECTRIC LIFE” on R2 Records. There’s no genre to correctly describe it since it fuses many elements from different parts of the world, but inspiration can be traced from the gritty, raw, twisted beats of Detroit to the new era of jazzy soul sounds from Berlin, all the way back to the ancestors of the Brazilian bossa and the Nigerian afro-funk. The simple recipe is outstanding melodies, superior quality in crispy sounds and swingin’ unique rhythms that provoke movement of feet!
